Breathing Space (2007)

Oslo has become an arena for commercial and noisy forces - there is never peace, not even in the parks. In the middle of one of the busiest places in this urban culture, the installation BREATHING SPACE emerges and meets the body as pure nature, giving passers-by a thought-provoking respite before rushing on.

Three dancers in an environmentally friendly and protected greenhouse reflect on our vulnerable and lonely human body. The body as living space, as nature, as breath... The breath strip presents the instinctive and unconscious elements of the body's movements - how we moved before the mirror was invented and before we were civilized. How does the body move when it is not aware of itself?

Kjersti created BREATHING SPACE in 2007 and it was shown in a custom made glass cage outside the National Theatre during CODA Oslo International Dance festival.
